Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

They are a team of medical practitioners who help provide surgical care in many different situations.

Just as their title suggests, they generally work under the supervision of surgeons, and they are part of the operating room team which usually includes other medical practitioners such as registered nurses and anaesthesiologists. They help ensure that surgical procedures go smoothly, conduct regular maintenance with surgical tools and equipment to ensure that they are in proper working order, and see to it that conditions for surgery are at the safest possible for patients. Surgical technologists are also known as scrubs, and they are usually involved with the prepping up of the operating room prior to a surgical procedure.

They prepare surgical instruments and equipments to be used, making sure that everything is sterilized and safe for use. Before surgery, patients are attended to by surgical technicians in making sure that incision areas are washed and disinfected properly. A surgical technicians job also includes transferring patients to the operating room, setting them up on the operating table, and placing a sterilized surgical drape over them. As the surgical procedure commences, it will be up to the surgical technologist to hold and pass surgical instruments (such as scalpels, forceps, cut sutures and retractors) to surgeons and their assistants.

Any specimens which are scheduled for laboratory analysis will be assembled, taken care of, and properly disposed of by the surgical technician.

Once the surgical procedure has been completed, the surgical technologist assists in the transporting of patients to the recovery room. They also help take care of a patients surgical wounds and attend to the application and regular changing of dressings. As with every other careers, individuals aspiring to become a surgical technician need undergo both education and training in order to provide efficient and quality service, which is especially needed in the medical field.

Generally, one needs to undergo an accredited surgical technician program which could take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the degree you wish to attain (certificate, diploma or associate). The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or CAAHEP is the governing body for accreditation of training programs. CAAHEP-accredited training programs are usually available in vocational schools, hospitals, community/junior colleges, and other reputable surgical technician schools. A high school diploma or an equivalent GED is generally a requirement for admission to a surgical technician training program.

Effexor Withdrawal Critical Information The Following

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Effexor withdrawal symptoms, along with Paxil withdrawal symptoms, have truly set the standard for pain and suffering from an antidepressant.

Effexor withdrawal symptoms can easily last two months or more, and some people don’t feel back to normal even after a year of discontinuation. (The half-life refers to the amount of time it takes the body to metabolize one-half of the drug.) Five hours is a frighteningly short half-life for a drug of this nature. It almost guarantees problems. In the next few paragraphs you’re going to learn just how serious this can be.

So what’s the ‘official’ word on withdrawal? Wyeth-Ayerst, the manufacturer of Effexor and Effexor XR, did a survey of all the patients in the clinical trial’s testing program. Also, from the FDA medical products reporting program, the list of withdrawal symptoms from Effexor include: agitation, anorexia, anxiety, confusion, coordination impaired, diarrhea, dizziness, dry mouth, dysphoric mood, fasciculation, fatigue, headaches, hypomania, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, nightmares, sensory disturbances (including shock-like electrical sensations), somnolence, sweating, tremor, vertigo, and vomiting. One more common effect not mentioned above is long term vision problems. Most likely, 35 percent is an underestimate of Effexor’s withdrawal problems. What’s not in dispute is the high number of ‘serious’ side effects from withdrawal.

Comments Off GRE questions, patterns and structure cannot be categorized into any quantifiable syllabus or module. They are primarily aimed at testing the students knowledge levels, their analytical ability and also to get an insight into the type of education that they have received so far. With such a broad horizon, the GRE test questions understandably are a lot different from the general norm.

However, based on the analysis of all the previous question GRE question papers, experts have been able to broadly categorize the patterns of the questions and have been able to create many GRE practice question papers that can help the applicants to understand what they will deal with during the actual exam. GRE practice test papers are modeled exactly like the original one. They are generally structured under the categories of analytical writing, verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning. The analytical writing section is segregated into two sections which are Issue based analysis and Argument based analysis.

This is the same way an actual GRE question paper would look like. The verbal reasoning category of the GRE practice test will contain 30 questions and the students are given multiple answer choice to choose from. The quantitative section is also multiple choice answers based and contains 28 questions.

There is another category that appears in the actual GRE exam and that is called experimental section. This section is not included in the scoring pattern but it is designed in such a way that the students will not be able to differentiate this from the actual questions and therefore are forced to answer. The GRE practice questions also cover this aspect and add similar questions, just like the actual GRE. The time given to complete each section in the GRE practice questions model is also similar to the real exam.
