Generally, one needs to undergo an accredited surgical technician program which could take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years depending on the degree you wish to attain (certificate, diploma or associate). The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or CAAHEP is the governing body for accreditation of training programs.
